Frequently Asked Questions
Any questions? Look here for answers to the most commonly asked questions. If you can't find the answer you 're looking for, feel free to contact me.
How can I add a token?
You can import QR codes or enter the token details manually. Furthermore 2FAGuard supports importing multiple tokens at once from other 2FA apps. All tokens that follow the TOTP standard are supported.
What is the portable version?
It's a standalone version of the app that can be run from a USB stick or other portable device. All data is stored in the same directory as the program itself.
How is my data secured?
The secret keys, the account names and your notes are encrypted using the AEGIS-256 algorithm. The encryption key is derived via Argon2id.
From which 2FA apps can I import tokens?
Google Authenticator, Bitwarden and Authenticator Pro are currently explicitly supported. In addition tokens can be imported from generic TOTP Uri list.
Which devices are supported?
This app is only available for Windows 10 and higher. For Android I recommend Authenticator Pro that is fully compatible with 2FAGuard.
